The Sussex Song Makers end their 2018 programme of concerts with a final event in the Underground Theatre. After a hugely successful concert in the London Brandenburg Choral Festival, where they performed in the wonderful St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden
(The Actors Church), they opened the Bexhill Festival of Music on May 25th in the equally lovely church of The Parish Church of St Peters.
For this event they will perform the same programme, which is a mixture of sublime choral music plus solos and duets, and including some complimentary poetry, mix the music of Bach, Mozart, Faure, Schubert, Quilter, Saint Saens, with Keats, Walter de la Mare, Byron, and John Betjeman, and you have a wonderful mixture of words and music.
This fine female ensemble has some excellent soloists, and they are delighted to have the distinguished musician Nicholas Chisholm as their narrator. Elizabeth Muir-Lewis is the choir’s music director. It was Elizabeth’s idea to mix poetry and music, marrying these two great art forms together.
