The Merchant of Venice

Sunday 22nd July 2018 – 3pm.  Venue & Bar Open 2.15pm.

presented by professional touring theatre company Bowler-Crab Productions

“A stage where every man must play a part …”.

Bowler Crab bring you our twelfth full production to date: The Merchant of Venice, on tour across Sussex, Kent and London this June & July!

The Merchant of Venice is an edgy comedy filled with romance, laughter and the odd tear. Three love stories roll into one as we follow young lovers on a voyage to woo the women of their dreams; but how dark will the tale turn when their friend must pay their debts? How accountable can friendship be when wagered with of a pound of human flesh? A comedy full of love, riddles, disguises, song and dance but also one that questions the topics of race, class, worth, gender, religion and, ultimately … revenge.

Our biggest tour to date, with stops at our usual haunts: The Mermaid Inn (Rye), The Stables Theatre (Hastings), St John’s Centre (Bexhill) and The Hen & Chickens (Islington, London); along with new tour stops: The Trinity Theatre (Tunbridge Wells), The Rialto Theatre (Brighton), The Under Ground Theatre (Eastbourne) and St John’s URC (Edenbridge) and, of course, multiple stops at our own exclusive outdoor venue, the C16th Half House Farm (Three Oaks).
