Mike Ross & Jack J Hutchinson feature in this double-header of headline acts at the Under Ground Theatre on our regular Under Ground Live night.
Mike Ross takes listeners on a uniquely detailed and image packed history tour of the history of the of the music he loves to play, beginning in the Mississippi Delta at the beginning of the 20th century and finishing up right back in the present moment with his powerful emotive voice and intoxicating virtuosic guitar playing carrying you every inch of the way.
Born and raised in the Great North but living these days down in the Southland with a steady mind and a thoroughbred plan, Mike writes soul wrenchin’, riff bustin’ songs that will make you want to share the tale of his life’s journey and the lessons he’s learned.
This winding road leads from England to Europe before jumping the Atlantic to New York, detouring way down south to Memphis and New Orleans via Clarksdale Mississippi and Nashville Tennessee, soaking up every scent and sound along the way before fetching up on the shores of Sussex with a lifetime’s worth of tales to share.
The London based Jack J Hutchinson is an established talented blues player with a contemporary sound. Jack has been described by Classic Rock Blues Magazine as “born to sing soul and blues”, and Blues In Britain as “everything that is so good about modern blues music”.
His last two EPs – Get It Back and Unplugged – have both entered the UK iTunes blues chart Top 20, with the latter also featured by Apple as a ‘Top New Release’. He has also reached #1 in the local and #4 in the national Reverbnation blues charts, and also entered the Amazon blues charts.
Hutchinson has received widespread radio play, with BBC Radio 2’s Paul Jones a prominent supporter. 6 of his tracks have also featured on cover mount CDs for Classic Rock Blues Magazine, who have also extensively promoted his work via their TeamRock radio station. He was also featured in their ‘Ones To Watch 2015’ feature. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to catch this great sound at our own blues venue.
