Folk with traditional Northern humour then the rousing singalong duo.

Jim Murray started on the Tyneside folk scene in the early 60s : at the Beacon on the Lawe Top in South Shields, the Bridge in Newcastle and even as far as Sunderland. Then with brother Phil and Mick and Kevin Doonan started the (eventually) legendary Hedgehog Pie

He then moved to London as a result of which Hedgehog Pie went from strength to strength.

In London he sang in the early clubs ; the Singers Club , the Troubadour and the original Islington Folk Club at the Fox. In the 60s and 70s he played in clubs in many parts of the UK. In subsequent decades he ran clubs in London – The Collier’s Rant Folk Club in Chelsea and at the Roebuck in Tottenham Court Road then later he ran folk concerts at the Irish Centre in Hammersmith.
