Friday 29th June 2018 – 8.00pm. Venue & Bar Open 7.30pm.
Award winning pianist Craig Milverton is returning to the Under Ground Theatre on Friday 29th June with his Quartet. He will be paying tribute to the great Oscar Peterson quartets which featured Joe Pass, Herb Ellis on guitars and the bassists Ray Brown and Niels Henning Orsted Pederson and drawing on a broad selection of Peterson originals, choice standards and Bop classics.
Craig has been on the jazz scene for 30 years and played with a host of musicians Alan Barnes, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Digby Fairweather, Alex Garnett, Scott Hamilton, Ken Peplowski, Warren Vache to name a few. Tonight he is being accompanied by virtuoso guitarist Nigel Price, brilliant young Bassist, Sandy Suchodolski and the groove machine Matt Home on Drums. With this stellar Quartet you can expect a swinging Masterclass.
Digby Fairweather describes Craig as “…the best jazz pianist to come along in Britain in the last two decades and the nearest to the great Oscar Peterson.” This concert is a must for all Peterson fans and all those people who love jazz that swings.
“An extravagantly gifted pianist with an unrivalled swing”
