Black Strap Molasses
Saturday Morning Music Events – Free Concerts at the UGT Every Saturday
Highlighting Local Performers
11th March 2017 – 10am – 12 noon. Venue Opens at 9.30am
Top Eastbourne folk group Black Strap Molasses are back at Eastbourne’s Under Ground Theatre on Saturday 11th March. As usual, the music lasts from 10am until noon and entry is free.
Be sure to get there early, though, as BSM have a reputation for packing in the crowds, especially when vocalist Melody Westcott is in the line-up!
Grab a seat and be entertained by a wide range of songs to make you happy, songs to make you melancholy, and songs to make you think, all to the accompaniment of rhythm guitar, bass guitar and keyboard – plus the occasional harmonica.
Some old favourites are bound to be included: maybe Boo Hewerdine’s “Bible Pages”, Jim Page’s chilling “Headful of Pictures”, about the Iraq war, or “Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road”, about nothing in particular, Chumbawamba’s tilt at the Facebook age, the blackly humorous “Add Me” or “Eastbourne in Winter” a very personal view of his home town by BSM founder Nick Westcott.
Throughout their performance, Fairtrade coffee and tea and home-made cakes will be on sale in the Under Ground coffee-bar – which will stay open until 4pm for viewing of the latest foyer art exhibition.
Entry is free.
With regret there is no wheelchair access to the venue
