Come to the Eastbourne Under Ground Theatre on 1st March and be transported back into the 1930’s Jazz scene with the Liquorice-Stick All-Sorts band. This newly formed trio cleverly fuse the tunes of the Great Jazz musicians such as `Benny Goodman,’ with their own unique contemporary style.
The Liquorice Stick All-Sorts Band aptly named by Alan, allows for an unusual amount of interplay between the musicians but swinging remains the priority throughout the show. Alan, a multi-award winning Jazz musician and huge favourite at the Under Ground Theatre will be on clarinet. Jim Hart, who has been described in the Jazz Press as ‘outstanding’ and a `revelation’ will be on vibes and the talented Paul Clarvis on Drums.
Too often overlooked in favour of the saxophone, this talented trio redress the balance and put the clarinet back in the spotlight. In town for one night only, and with an appeal across the jazz spectrum, this gig is certain to attract jazz fans from near and far.
8pm on Friday, 1st March, at the Eastbourne Under Ground Theatre. Bar and coffee-bar from 7.30pm. Tickets: £11 (members/students £10).
