This art space was launched in May 2012 when Stephen Lloyd MP for Eastbourne opened the first exhibition, of paintings by local artist Andrew Voller. The Private View was attended by over 100 guests.
This was followed by a hitherto un-shown collection of West African Art owned by Jeni King. There followed an exhibition of paintings by abstract artist David Armitage, together with his illustrations of “The Lighthouse” series of children’s books, written by his wife Ronda.
2014 has been a very successful year of exhibitions, and 2015 looks set to be the same.
We are very pleased to announce that the new daylight-balanced lighting has now been installed (Sept 2014) and is up for our current exhibition and beyond.
Art Under Ground aims in the main to promote local artists featuring quality work of many genres. No charge is made for the exhibition space but there is a small commission payable to the Arts Centre on any sale.
Currently the art exhibition is open for viewing on Fridays and Saturdays between 10am and 4pm.
Patrons visiting events at the Under Ground Theatre will also have the opportunity to see the exhibits.
